Uniform turn-in - Tuesday October 23rd- Any athlete not involved in the district meet will need to turn their uniform in at practice this Tuesday -- if you can not make it please send your uniform in with a teammate. Note: The last required practice for those athletes not involved in the district meet is Tuesday as well.

VA State Meet Results - Congrats to the boys for capturing the schools 3rd state title.

Brain Landry placed 4th (matching TJ's highest individual finish), Evan Heflin 17th pl, Brian Davenport 18th pl, Aaron Bernstein 35th pl, Alex Witko 47th pl, Timmy Galvin 70th pl, Joey Jachowski 76th. The guys posted a 5 man avg of 15:58 the first time in school history for a sub 16min 5 man avg.
Lisa Junta place 24th (2nd freshman), Connor Fleming was 26th pl and Alison Underwood was 34th; all 3 ladies posted season best 5k times.

Northern Region Championships - Congrats to both boys and girls teams for their excellent performances:

The boys team captured the 4th Region title in school history by placing 4 athletes in the top 15 (All-Region); Brain Landry earned 2nd pl, Evan Heflin 5th pl, Aaron Bernstein 7th pl, Brain Davenport 13th pl, Alex Witko 22nd pl, Joey Jachowski 31st, Timmy Galvin 36th. This extends the boys streak of placing 1st or 2nd at Regionals to 7 years (2001-07) with region titles in 02,03,04 as well. Brian L, Evan H, Aaron B., Brian D. and Alex W. all posted top 25 times on the TJ all-time Burke Lake list.
The girls team just missed earning a spot in the state meet by placing 5th but had 3 individuals (the most ever for TJ) earn All-Region honors and advance to the state meet. Lisa Junta 8th pl, Connor Fleming 12th pl, Alison Underwood 13th pl, Stephanie Marzen 39th pl, Ronit Malka 72nd, Ariel Schwartz 79th, Neesha Schnepf 93rd. Lisa, Connor and Alison's performances rank them in the top ten on TJ's all-time Burke Lake list.

Nov 9th and 10th: VA AAA State Meet at Great Meadow events center, Warrenton Va; Nov 9th course preview - Dismissal 12:45 bus departs at 1pm- return to TJ approx 5pm. Nov 10th 10:30am girls & 11:15 boys - bus departs TJ at 7:30am.

Extra Curricular participation pledges are due ASAP - if you have been out of town it must be turned in the first day you return to practice.

Summer Running Tips:

Those athletes not able to attend practice should follow the Summer Running Schedule .

Avoid running in the heat of the day; run in the morning or evening.
Stay hydrated; try to drink 8-12oz of water for every hour you are awake. Avoid waiting to the last minute to hydrate (i.e. consuming a large amount of fluid just before running).
Run with a partner; always let someone (i.e. parents) know your intended route and when you expect to return.
Avoid congested roads and roads without sidewalks or large/wide shoulders.

- Congrats to the boys team for earning our highest place in school history - 3rd, 1pt out of 2nd and 6pts oout of 1st.
- We had 5 athletes earn regional championships; Frank Nothaft in the Shot Put and Discus and Taylor Bostick, James Komen, Paul Norland and Ben Treweek in the 4x800m.
